Ancient Thamizh Goddesses

Saptha Kanni or 7 Goddesses of Thamizh Aaseevagam:

 

Any set of seven deities in any corner of the world is derived from The Saptha Kanni or Saptha Madha, a set of 7 female deities designed by Murugan as part of Aaseevagam Pantheon to balance male-female power in society. They are assigned to 7 ancient heavenly objects and each day of the week and one color of the Aasevaham color scheme from black to white. They are imaginary and bear no connection to any real person thorough marriage or blood. Hence all their links to Male deities are to signify a connection to a historical event or a major breakthrough by their real male counterparts.

1. Black-Saturn-Saturday:

i)Kaali/Raa: 

female for Kaalan/Sivan the Time keeper, Kaalam = Time 

Raa= Night/Black

Huntress, War goddess, Night deity, Destructive force of Creation, Mountains and Deserts, Bravery, Ignorance, Weapons esp. bow and arrow, Black, Saturn

ii) Parvathy/ Ambaal/ Amman:

Var(Mountain)+Vathy(Residing goddess) = Parvathy : Female counterpart of Sivan, the Mountain-God

Ambal (Water lily) = Ambaal: Goddess who resides in a water lily/ Lotus

Amma = Mother, Amman: Mother Goddess

Mother Goddess, Mountains, Yazhi(Sea Snake), Tiger, Bow and arrow, Trident, Noose, Lotus, Cow, Sivalingam

iii) Shakthi : Agam (Physique)+Thee (Lifeforce/Fire) = Agthee = Sakthee/Sakthi

2. Blue-Moon-Monday:

Neelambigai/ Neelambal:  

Neelam (Blue) + Ambigai  = Neelambigai : Blue Goddess on lotus

Neelam (Blue) + Ambal = Neelambaal: Water Lily Goddess

3.Green-Venus-Friday:

i) Pachaiamma: 

Pachai (Green)+Amman(Mother/Goddess)= Pachaiamman, the Goddess of Agriculture 

Farming, Born of forest fire, Earth Goddess, Seasonal cycles, Vegetation, Flowers, Fruits, Crops, Fields, Lakes, Fresh water, Healing, Harvests, Natural Prosperity, Marriage, Rivers, Lakes, Parrot, Green, Venus

 

ii) Valli: 

      Velli or Planet Venus, from Vellai = White color, Venus from Venmai = White color

The planet corresponding to greenery visibility stage of Sunrise sequence in Aaseevaham color scheme,the morning and evening star, consort of Murugan

iii) Draupadhi: 

Tharai(Ground/Earth)+Pathi(Residing Goddess)= Draupadhi, the Earth Goddess

Parrot, Green skinned, Born of forest fire, the clan deity of Pandavas, the Pandiyas, also rural Pooranam 

iv) Meenatchi: 

   Meen (Fish)+ Atchi (Rule)= Meenatchi, The Rule/Clan of the Fish Goddess

Green skinned, Parrot, Fish Goddess, seas and oceans, Salt water, Fishing-Farming Clan, the clan deity of Pandiyas 

 

4.Red-Mars-Tuesday:

i) Latchumi(Lakshmi) : 

   Illam (Home)+Amai(Create) = Illakmi/Lakmi/Latchumi/Lakshmi

ii) Illathal or Latha: 

   Illam(Home) + Aal ( Person) = Illathal/Latha

5. Yellow-Mercury-Wednesday:

Mathangi/Kanagavalli : 

    Maa(Great) +Thangam(Gold) = Mathangi, the Wealth Goddess

    Kanagam(Gold) + Valli(Deserving Holder)= Kanagavalli, the Gold Goddess

        Kalai (Skills) + Vaani (Residing in Vaanam/Sky) = Kalaivaani, the Goddess of skills, music and arts

ii) Deivanai 

        Deivam (God) + Yaanai (Elephant) = Divine White

   Gangai (River in N.India) + Amman (Goddess) = Gangaiamman, the Goddess of river Ganga 

 Enlightenment, Old age, Loss of Ego, Contemplation, Review of Deeds, Spirituality, Afterlife, rivers lead to oceans and souls lead to God, , Cosmos or Soul World , Non physical realm , holds Water Pot, Transparency, Sun
